Congratulations for having the guts to stick it through. Not that it really matters, but I'm curious as to your occupation. I don't think I have much of an appreciation for how certain fields are magnets for unscrupulous employers like the one you described.
Now it is time to celebrate with family and friends, and get back in physical and mental shape. Make sure to get your citizenship then push hard for changes to the system. That's the light at the end of the tunnel for me, also.

Numbers USA people are angry right wing citizens.
Calls from legal aliens who can't vote won't move lawmakers one bit. Money and votes are the only 2 things that matter to politicians.
Pressure groups and lobbyists have far more reach and influence. IV as a group can use lobbyists and other influence to get a lot more done. Individual phone calls are a waste.

Count me in as well. This memo is completely discriminatory and will do more harm than good. It is surprising that very few are willing to come forward and fight this abuse. I am sure that there are hundreds of affected members and a collective effort will help us all.

Is there a link on DOL or any other Federal websites talking about this? I am not doubting immigration-law.com but wanted to see if there are any more sources of information on this topic - on the net from government or any other federal agency.

I would keep it simple. H1 is a very solid backup in current market. I just don't want to close any options.

Ok, so here are some more thoughts ... obviously we are all stuck in our current positions and we are worried about the future. Unless, we do something to be prepared we won't be better off when we get our GC's? Given where most of us are I think we have two options:
1. Advance your education (MBA/PM/certifications etc.)
2. Start a business.
I would like to hear from everyone who has or wants to start a business.
1. Have you thought of starting a business?
2. What does it take to start a business while on H1B
3. Is it worth the effort not knowing if/when you will get the green card. Remember starting a business is not a short-term goal.
4. Are there businesses that cross borders i.e. we can continue to run the business even if we have to leave the US?

US can put pressure Indian counterpart to freeze your Indian bank accounts, hence don't tranfer monies in any of your or your wife's accounts.

Got to hand it to you man, your comments are Hilarious. You heard this .."Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me". You said USCIS is screwing you you by giving H1 and GC to these lesser degree fellas, and shame on them for doing this, yet you stand in line to get screwed by USCIS, everyday, again and again. And you are standing in line for what? the past 10 yrs only to get screwed everyday. I don't understand the desperation. Anyway, hope you get your GC soon. I don't know which is more fun for you, getting GC or standing in the line.

Anybody has this situation?
My case was sent by my attorney June 29th (current July bulletin) USPS certified mail.
As per USPS online tracking record it was delivered July 2nd 12.45 PM.
No receipt yet. So far sounds okay.
But I got the copy of actual delivery receipt stamped by F.Heinauer (Director NSC USCIS) with the date 062907.
It is a stamp so some of their employee clearly has stamped it.
Now I am confused if that�s the receipt date they are going to go with and may reject the application.
And with this many application it may take more than AUG 17th to receive anything back.
I am very sure it was reached on July 2nd. It was only sent June 29th afternoon.
And USPS is telling there is no delivery can reach so fast. According to USPS the guy who might have stamped the delivery did not changed the stamp date from 0629 to 0702 since it was a weekend.
Anybody in the same situation? Any advice?

For diversity they have GC lottery. Having per country limits in EB categories doesnot make sense

A desi consulting company brought him to the US. When they realized he wasn't going to get a project, they just didn't let go of him. Since he was a reliable guy (1. he can be trusted with monthly grocery payment 2. his labor can be sold later to others 3. he servres as an insider who can get information if other consultants are trying to be sneaky by getting their resumes marketed by another company, etc etc, basically he is an asset even thought he doesn't have a project), they just decided to keep him there. These companies don't have attorneys. They take care of all legal matters themselves. Now, how much is hte USCIS fee to file for labor? How much to file for I-140? Peanuts right? So they continue to keep his application active. How hard do you think it is to get fake references when you can make fake resumes. They have fake pay stubs. Fake experience. Fake this and fake that. Everything they do is fake.
So to others who have said that this thread has to be dropped, and have said that these desi companies are right in doing what they're doing, or who have blamed the system - I think that you are one of those people who are involved in such a racket. I know that I have touched your nerves by letting the whole world about this (not that some people didn't know this already). Why else would you want this thread dropped?
unbelievable is all i can say. i just hope that there are not too many cooks around. but the truth is that this is a racket and busting these rackets will actually reduce retrogression.
