Question: Once one takes US citizenship s/he promises to renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate or state then how come one confidently say that s/he would still be in love to a home country?
Exactly my thoughts. However, that does not mean that I am not proud of heritage and culture of my country-of-origin.
The vast majority of people are here on these forums for getting their GC and USC.
I appreciate everyone who has congratulated me. Thank you so much. Please note that I sill belong to legal immigrant community and nothing can change that.

Are we sure that consular processing dates are mirror of AOS bulletin?
I am sure it is, I am a CP candidate, till now AOS dates mirrored CP dates and vice versa, so this time also it has to be true!!! Usually consulates get the dates b4hand from DOS, as they have to schedule interviews. I hope I'll be scheduled for the interview this april.

Having seen numerous threads in which the exchanges became rude/sarcastic/rude or even outright abusive and vulgar, I was hoping that this would not become one.
Ron, while you may have a point in what you say, sarcasm and taunts will get you no where. As you said, the 'antis' are gearing up, suggesting (I presume) that the effort of all of us should be more concerted and determined. But you are not doing yourself any favor by saying the things that you do.
Raji had a point of view, and has not been rude or offensive in expressing it. In fact, her/his first post was out why it is not good to use the AILA template. Well, PASKAL did try to address. Raji's tone or tenor of posts did not merit a peremptory reply, much less a rude one.
Be that as it may, I do believe fervently that even if someone insists/demands an answer, you can always ignore it instead of being rude or aggressive.
That way there will be more people on IV'S side.

I feel privilieged that I have an opportunity to work with the same employer as Aman. I remember talking to him one year back, when he first mentioned retrogression. Like many others, I was naive and thought I dont have to worry about it until 3 or 4 yrs. I have seen him in action, he is the most polite human I have ever came across, who is super soft in his heart but super agressive in his actions. I know that he sold his house to generate 64K to spend for IV.
He once told me that he likes to socialize with fellow employers, indulge in office politics, etc and be a typical employee, but unfortunately he cannot because he would rather spend that time on IV and build things for IV.
I know for a fact that, his boss is not all too happy about he dedicating his time to other efforts. But he stands like a pillar to protect our IV community.
In a nutshell: Here is a man who is willing to give whatever it takes to stand up for what he believe in. We the community should be extremely happy to have people like him and Logiclife.
I will start my $20 dollar contributions / per month recurring contributions today.

This is what I mean by fingerpointing. So why are u so special? Just because u claim to be honest u must not point fingers at others. I am not criticizing u or not arguing, but fingerpointing will not lead to anything constructive. From what I have done so far, I have no clue if I have done something wrong, u r already pointing finger at me.

Looks like he has realized that he has been sidelined and did not really get any support for his actions( $ 3500 ) in the press or the media , so now this guy this does this about face and tries to be " so sympathetic" . Looks like the tech lobby stopped the flow of his campaign money and ALIPAC's and the 1500 member programmers guild's coffers are not enough to fund his campaign . :D
He is partially right in saying that there is some fraud in the system , but why have we got to increase the "Tution Fee" by $ 3500 to fight fraud . :mad:As if the students in the US do ot have enough scholarships already . Are they not ripping us enough already on visa and green card costs . We also pay Social security taxes which must technically be returned to people who will never enjoy them .

After you apply for AP its only 1 year H1 increments.
Can you please clarify on this; If 485 is not current at the time of H1 extension and if 140 is approved should get 3 year extension. How does applying for AP change this? Do you mean using AP when traveling or mere applying of
AP will make you not eligible for 3 year extensions?

You have to have security clearance before you can do that.
Pretty much like you have to have citizenship before you can vote.

In my view H1B problem is directly related to Retrogression problem. Lets step backwards and analyze this.
Why so many GC were applied at the first place that caused retrogression. Because a large number of people came on H1B to US. All these people who came to US on H1b did not actually had any extraordinary skills. These people somehow got in touch with these Desi Consulting companies and came here without any skill and without any projects. These desi consulting companies applied there GC irrespective of the fact that these guys have a job or not. Some of the people I know have sat on bench for years, living with their relatives, unable to get any job. But they had their labour filed. These knid of people would not have made to US, if these fadudent companies were not there.
Also big companies, have a policy not to apply GC before one year of service. The point was that these companys will file GC only if they feel that the employee adds value to the company. But with these desi companys people have filed GC even before joining the companys.
In essence if the GC process was working without these Desi companies, I can bet that the number of GC applied would have been much lower than what have we currently have.
Substituted labor has further added to this problem.
I cannot agree with you more. I have seen and met these fake consultants and their knowledge and skill level is zero. I can school most of these so called techies with 5-7 years of experience just with my couple of years of experience and a Masters degree.

Second level I/O ->Trick is to first call the USCIS customer service and talk to the first level I/O. Once he/she has given you the information on the case (same as what you see online), try to convince him/her to transfer you to second level I/O. It has always worked for me ... just need to show a bit of emotion and tell them how you've been stuck for so long.
Congressman -> Talk to your congressman's staff and figure out the best way to get an immigration inquiry. In my case, they had a immigration privacy release form available online and I just filled the form, signed and faxed it.

I haven't received the physical H1B approval notice from my attorney yet so I don't know what's the I-94 # on that one although I doubt it will be the same. AFAIK each I-94 number is unique and different. Anyway, I don't think I-94 number itself matters any, just the fact that you have valid, not expired I-94 is sufficient.
I did not fill the forms for the transfer myself (the attorney did) so I don't know for a fact what he entered in "last manner of entry" but I'm 99.99% sure they must have said "Paroled" as they asked for my I-94 that had "paroled" stamp on it to attach with the petition.
Finally, I did not get any RFE.

Considering that there are more than 2000 members who havent contributed yet. Even $10 per member wud mean $20K straight away. Common guys, this is tax refund season. Surely we can all send in atleast between $10 and $20. That is cheap change considering most of our life styles. Internet access costs more than that, Filling your car with a tank of regular gas costs more than that. ;)

If credentials were in Q, it would be pointless raising any Qs at all. Qs are only asked of whom you trust to give a reliable answer. While the Core and indeed the Donors are dedicated and smart, many members here are as interested in following the progress being made by IV and yes smart enough to understand that every organisation has strategies which it may not wish to reveal � the Qs here are not about strategy, they are about updated information and increased awareness amongst those IV calls its base. If a free and open discussion about this is only to be cut short by a member being told pay or not be curious, then this is not really a public forum and this needs to be clarified at the very start.
Of course IV can continue to get rid of people it does not like raising Qs by putting them down, but this is not the greatest public relations exercise - especially with the population the group seeks to serve. This world is not a one size fits all and - there will always be people who pop into a forum for the occasional Query - if we answered them nicely, updated them on progress, they may themselves consider this a worthy cause, donate, update their profile and contribute as best as they can. Alternatively they may never become donors, but will at least ensourage others to visit IV, become members, and support the cause. But if we ask them to fulfil multiple conditions before showing empathy, we lose them forever.
