As you may know, we are just one more week away from hosting Advocacy day in Washington DC where about 170 members of Immigration Voice will conduct nearly 250 meetings with offices of Senators and Congressmen. Such events cost money. If we have enough contributions, we can spend as per our budget of nearly $ 50,000. If not, we will have to cut back on the event spending and reduce the magnitude and size of the event.
If you are not coming to DC next week, please do your part and contribute funds to Immigration Voice. It not only finances the event properly, it instills pride and confidence in the members who will be there in DC that there are thousands of willing supporters behind them who could not be there physically but are 100% with them in their determination and resolve.

Did you use PO box as address on I-485? I had heard USCIS does not accept PO box as address in I-485.
Apparently not. If he did, the welcome notice would had got to him at the first place.

Friends,
There is a rumor going around now. One of my colleagues here claims that he got a call from his attorney that there is going to be a new bulletin for july, released either tomorrow or on Monday. Can someone talk to their attorney and confirm this?
I'm unable to reach my attorney now.
Man, this is becoming unbearable now. Although it seems to be the right thing given the news that USCIS has returned some visa numbers to DOS, I think they won't do it for the fear of looking like fools and humiliation of their mistakes publicly

I'm thinking of buying Atlas America Comprehensive with $100 deductible for my Mom. It's coming out to be $991.00 for 6 months approximately.
Friends, if you have any complaints about Atlas or much favorable things to say about other insurance companies, Please suggest me.

We recently got the Atlas America Insurance with 0 deductible and got two visits done for my father(chest infection). Got antibiotics prescribed, blood test done, physical checkup done. Went very smooth, no payments at all.
Said that, someone who has tested a Emergency visit or a Specialist visit or an Intensive care visit should be able to give us a better idea of who fares better.
Till date, other then a PCPs visit, I have not heard any good reviews for any insurance cos(agents).
And then there are so many agents/sub-agents floating around, that even the genuine ones dont seem so genuine.
We should have a AM/S&P kinda rating system for Visitors insurance.

Yes. That member and probably other such members are now on other site posting anti-IV posts.....
It is shameful to have such members among us.
Anyways, good thread. This site should help people fix the broken system rather than abuse each other or track all day. I hope due to the discussion, people can get some ideas and take action against such employers. IV will be willing to help as needed.
Wish discussions on this thread leads to some concrete suggestions/steps that one take to counter an abusive employer. and ofcourse IV should take steps to make these employers visible to the whole community so that others will not fall pray to them. Exposing abusive employers to the whole community is the most important thing that could thwart efforts of exploitation by such employers. This sounds some times more effective than than even going legal or to DOL.
It is shameful to have such members among us.

Suppose you work for Company A on H-1B. You get out of the U.S. and come back with AP. You become parolee at that time. File an H-1B extension with Employer A, get new I-94 that indicates your status is now H-1B.
6 months later, you get another job with Employer B. Since you already are on H-1B with Company A, you should be able to transfer your H-1B to Company B.
I recently went to South Korea and entered the US on the AP since I didn't feel that I had enough time to wait for my H-1B stamped in my passport at the US emabassy in Seoul. Before leaving the US, I consulted with my attorney on this issue and she assured me that my H-1B is valid as long as I file the extension and maintain terms of the H-1B visa.
This is her opinion in quotes:
"I wanted to emphasize that you do not need to obtain the H visa as long as you have an unexpired Advance Parole document to use instead. To clarify, you are then entering in parolee status but in later filing an H extension or change of employer petition, DHS will terminate the grant of parole and admit you back into H classification. Additionally, if you enter on the advance parole and work consistent with the terms of your underlying current H petition, you are not violating your status nor do you need a separate EAD work card."
I hope this helps.

There are companies with H-1B workers who are so-called ``on the bench,'' meaning they are ready to be deployed to a project. Hundreds of foreign workers are standing by waiting for work.
I totally support reform in the H1 process with a target to reduce fraud. That will ultimately benefit people like us who will come here on H1B in future.
To the best of my knowledge (correct me if I am wrong) H-1B can not be applied for contract worker if the visa has to be applied on demand and bench is not allowed.

Why are they charging like this Why so much grudge ?Govt has to use this type of money for funding...unbeleiveble.
this is not a solution we pay so much taxes being in H1 when we will able to use our SS benefits only we are permanent here....Where does all our money go...We educate from our country with great difficulty spending so much of our hard earned money come here for better benefits We pay taxes here ...now what our money will go for others for free .
