Ofcourse indian companies started misusing and abusing tehsystem to
the limit. I know Wipro paying 1500$ per month to people on L1
in Stamford , CT .
Stamford CT is an expensive place with 2 bedroom rent like 1800$.
When indian companies do all this what/how do you expect people
to react.
Now the local population has become hostile to H1B and anything
related to skilled immigration.
It wasnt like that before...say 10 years back.

if a background check reveals that you had been on H-1 you won't be eligible for Z visa. You have to come up with a new face, new name, and new ID. Looks daunting but less daunting than getting GC legally.

No I wouldn't. Get it from the your child's pediatrician since they know the case history and will be able to word it correctly. Remember that the letter from the pediatrician is the basis which the certified civil curgeon for USCIS will use to apply for a waiver if he/she thinks it is necessary.

My attorney told me that my wife needs to get back before her scheduled trip. This would incur huge costs plus it would be difficult to get the seat arrangements. ( We have a twins and we have seats with bassinets for the infants). My father is also travelling with her.
Is it possible to ask 1 month extension for RFE based on the difficulties. I'm EB3 IND PD 2003 and I dont think our I-485 is waiting for adjudication any time soon.
I've scheduled an infopass appointment tomorrow. What are the chances of getting an extension when I present my case to IO?
I'm worried and it makes us very anxious.

However, as far as access to some information and benefits goes, this can be restricted to members. If you think this issue impacts you as severely as it does, why the hesitation to ensure something gets done about it, and get regular access to information and benefits without the clutter?

I guess you are talking about premium membership like wsj etc. I am not sure a free exchange of ideas can occur if we put our membership for sale by restricting access to some parts of the website. IV will lose some of its sheen and I am not sure the tradeoff in membership $ is worth it- dunno just doesn't feel right in the gut

Sorry for ignorance, but what would you fetch from these voting results? There were already more than 100's threads before and as of now, if I am correct never seen any estimate data from any of us.
Its just sheer waste of time in calculating estimates. USCIS has its own rules and no one can predict them.

Starting a Recruiting company for Nurses will be a good idea now. There is a heavy shortage for Nurses in USA. It is easy to bring qualified nurses from India to USA. IV can start a recruiting company with the help of 5000 members.

Ok, if advertising is too far-fetched, then hold some cultural events and make money on those. Brainstorm with members to find other ways to make money. People are not going to contribute. That is the writing on the wall. There is lack of trust and lack of faith in IV. IV will have to figure out ways to generate cash from other things than member contributions. If I remember correctly, people contributed nearly $200K and have got nothing to show for that.
These suggestions are because you think money is the issue. I don't think it is. It's the lack of good leadership. That is my opinion and it was point of my original posting. Lack of money is being blamed wrongly. But may be I am wrong.
Attack my ideas and not me. Then we can have a debate conducive to achieving our goals.

There are companies with H-1B workers who are so-called ``on the bench,'' meaning they are ready to be deployed to a project. Hundreds of foreign workers are standing by waiting for work.
I totally support reform in the H1 process with a target to reduce fraud. That will ultimately benefit people like us who will come here on H1B in future.
To the best of my knowledge (correct me if I am wrong) H-1B can not be applied for contract worker if the visa has to be applied on demand and bench is not allowed.

just presenting a possible reason why what paskal proposed in his post does not work well in IV.......its not a question of whether phone calls are important or not....its a question of making a significant number of forum stakeholders (and not 1-2%) get to act on any initiative......fund raising/ calling efforts etc....
i genuinely believe that the core members go above and beyond whats expected to do what they are doing for IV - its truly remarkable...they all have busy lives and it takes great conviction and dedication to take the time out and do this...but why are the people still not responding despite the obvious pitfalls of not acting on GC related initiatives.......
maybe its lethargy, inaction, indifference etc.......but we should be open to considering that just maybe, a vast and silent majority of IVians do not feel a sense of representation in the organization and hence do not react as enthusiastically as they should........legitimacy among the constituents often comes with representation
why did most kingdoms around the world perish and give way to democracies......bcos the kings taxed the public based on their whims and fancies......elected govts may do the same but people still pay up and if they dont agree - they know they have a choice at the next elections.......
and no, i dont deserve to be the CEO - neither do i have a performance track record nor credibility here......should not stop me from voicing a contrarion view though

Nobody here exactly knows why the participation rate is less. Some of reasons could be:
i have my EAD, thats more than enough for me
i am in my I-140 or PERM stage, why should i bother now?
i don't think GC process is a big problem, i am sure i will get one day
i don't care. I will sit and watch others do this for me
I will not blame the core members. I understand their Vision and it aligns with mine. How do you enforce a vision in IV community when the participation is less?
How can any action survive with 100-200 members participation? look at numbersusa and learn from their strengths.
Having said that, i have a few suggestions though. Lets talk to our friends and relativies, understand their concerns/issues and communicate IV's vision to them in a better way and get them to participate.
Lets set some intermediate goals to track our progress.
Lets go IV

I got back through JFK. Had Valid H1 and AP. Unfortunately (kicking myself) , my EAD was insidethe passport too. IO saw it n said you'll need to use AP and took us to interview room, no questions asked, but took another 25 minutes. Now am Parolled... and I94 says Parolled until .....
Moral of the story : If you have valid H1 stamped , keep the AP tucked away. Can't argue with the ignorant mo fo s at the counter..

I have used both, in my personal opinion SBI offers good rate than ICICI.
Again, this may be not correct because we don't know the time they update their web site to reflect the current exchange rate.
